Silently a new certification has been announced a few weeks back and I feel it makes so much sense.
With NPSP and NPC (NonProfit Cloud) being on the same market, each of them with totally different set of features and data model, it makes sense to distinguish the certification as well. Or maybe not because half of the exam will be about general principles anyway, it is aiming at the minimum qualified candidate, etc., so who knows.
It was definitely great to study for the exam, as the trailmix is really great and shows all the different areas of the product. The big question for me – but rather for a separate post – is whether it makes sense to know it all, but that’s completely different question.
What can you expect in the exam?
- permissions and what need to be assigned where;
- how to manage project and it feels kind of as a combination of agile and waterfall vocabulary, which is most likely ok;
- donor lifecycle;
- data model questions, what is connected with what and how is it named;
- automations you should be aware of, what happens automatically and when;
- Data Processing Engine, Actionable Lists, Action Templates, Document Generation, Compliant Data Sharing, Interaction Summaries, Interest Tags, which components can be added to pages and all those goodies you are getting as part of the product.
You can definitely count with the fact that the following sentence is correct – „Implementation of all Nonprofit Cloud solution areas, including Stakeholder Management, Fundraising Management, Program Management, Case Management, Outcome Management, and Grantmaking“. The breath of the features you need to know about including data model and everything is pretty astonishing.
After all the certification – as all the others – will not guarantee that you know the system in and out and you’ll do the implementation correctly, but my point of view is, that passing the certification is definitely eye opening and I’m way more aware of what the solution can do and how to use it.
